Nevada has opted out of the federal exemptions, but the opt-
out applies only to Nevada residents.  “Any exemptions
specified in subsection (d) of section 522 of the Bankruptcy
Act of 1978, 11 U.S.C. § 522(d), do not apply to property
owned by a resident of this State unless conferred also by
subsection 1, as limited by subsection 2.” Nev. Rev. Stat. §
21.090 1.
Therefore, if this state is the applicable state (as determined
by the method stated on the home page of this site), the
debtor may use the federal exemptions if the debtor is not a
resident of Nevada on the date of filing bankruptcy.
